ACOUSTIC WALL PANELS

Acoustic wall panels: plan sound control and architectural detail together

How to prepare a clear acoustic wall panel scope, from fabric and finish selections to panel layouts and installation coordination.

Identify the sound-control goal

Acoustical wall panels can help control reflected sound within a room. Begin by explaining how the room will be used and sharing the acoustic requirements established by the project’s design team. The panel scope should follow those requirements rather than assuming one layout works for every interior.

Treat the panels as part of the architecture

Fabric-wrapped panels can also be visual features. Coordinate the panel dimensions, fabric selections, color transitions, and intended layout with the elevations and finish schedule. Where specialty panels are specified, include the details that distinguish them from a standard treatment.

Resolve interfaces before furnishing materials

Wall panels meet door frames, corners, outlets, displays, and other finishes. Provide elevations that show these relationships. Call out mounting details and areas that need clarification so material selections and panel layouts can be reviewed together.

Keep the scope specific

An estimate request should identify the rooms, panel types, approximate quantities if available, and the project schedule. Include manufacturer and product information when specified. If the design team is considering options, list them separately and explain which selections are still pending.
