OSHPD / HCAI healthcare projects: preparing a ceiling and wall panel bid
What to include when requesting ceiling and wall panel furnishing and installation for a California healthcare project.
Why do project documents mention OSHPD and HCAI?
OSHPD is the former department name; the department became HCAI, the Department of Health Care Access and Information, in 2021. Older documents and everyday construction language may still use OSHPD. Read HCAI’s announcement for the naming background.
Provide the project-specific requirements
For a healthcare bid package that references OSHPD or HCAI, send the issued drawings, specifications, relevant approval information, and ceiling or wall details established by the design team. Identify unresolved items so the furnishing and installation scope can be reviewed against the actual project documents.
Define the ceiling and wall systems
Identify whether the requested work includes ACT, T-bar ceilings, acoustic wall panels, felt wall panels, FRP, or specialty ceiling systems. Include manufacturer and product selections, finishes, mounting details, and interfaces with adjacent work. The applicable project requirements should be established by the responsible design and review teams.
Share phasing and access information
Explain whether the project is a new interior, renovation, or work within an occupied facility. Include known working-hour restrictions, access arrangements, and sequencing needs. These details help a subcontractor understand how the installation fits the overall project.
